Internship and Exchange Programme
For internships and exchange opportunities, we don’t just encourage our students to apply to them but go an extra mile to push students to grab the opportunities. We believe the experiences would broaden their horizons.
Internship
Student-initiated internships are beneficial in bridging academic and professional interests, and our students have obtained internship offers from a variety of regulatory agencies and private organisations. The Census and Statistics Department of the HKSAR Government also offers tailor-made internships to our students.

The opportunity to work with many talented economists at Goldman Sachs enlightens me to go beyond the textbook theories and see how the knowledge can be applied in real-world settings. The solid foundation that I built and the econometric skills that I acquired while studying at CUHK Economics empower me to perform analyses for the team when tracking the impact of major events on economic activities.

The internships have been precious journeys for me to expand my firsthand experience and develop deeper understandings of the financial market. Equipped with the economic knowledge and analytical skills that I acquired from CUHK’s economics program, I was able to quickly get prepared for my tasks during my internships. I appreciate all the resources and opportunities offered by the economics department.
Exchange
In addition to university-wide exchange programmes, we partner with FOUR prestigious universities in organising exchange programmes, exclusively for our students:

- Universität Mannheim in Germany
- University of Bath in the UK

During my studies in CUHK Economics, I participated in both an exchange programme and an internship. With the exclusive exchange program with Utrecht University offered by the department, I was able to have a unique overseas experience in the Netherlands. This opportunity gave me extensive exposure to cultural diversity and helped me develop adaptability when facing a new environment. With the support from our department’s career development unit, I also secured an internship in the HSBC placement program, which provided valuable professional exposure and insights.
Remarks: The internship and exchange programme are not applicable to DDP students.
